milamae I live in Houston, what would you like to know?
The weather's just hotting up now, so Spring is nearly gone, and the dcs only have 6 weeks left before school is out for the summer. (eek, 11 weeks to fill!) Are you thinking of coming here to live? Oil industry or medicine? Dcs in school? Most of the generic US advice is valid here - just be prepared for the weather - gets up to about 40oC in August, and very humid. The first year we lived here I thought the thermometer in my car had broken because it stuck at 40 all day, then finally dropped to 38 in the evening. In the winter, we get cooler, sweater type weather, and cold days every few years. (This year being one of them). As a result, only families who go skiing have coats for their children. And the car is king here. Expect to drive everywhere, and there are drive-through pharmacies, atms, starbucks and drycleaners, just to remove the need to get out of your big truck in to the heat (or rain, if it is June).
