Inter-community school in zurich

I'm looking at different school scenarios before moving out to Zug area in a couple months. As we are currently around 4th in the waiting list for 1 school and twenty something for another school, can anyone help me with how past school waiting lists have moved? Do we have a reasonable chance or a cat- in- hell's chance?
Also, does anyone know anything about the Inter-community school in Zurich? Is it academically strong? Although we are aiming for Zug to live in, realistically we may have to live in the Zurich canton if we can't get placements for dc 15 & 13 in Zug.(dh's work will be Zug)

Are you sure you are allowed to live in a different canton to the one your DP is going to work in?

Have you tried asking here ? I'm sure others have been in the same boat and may know of other families moving on later this year. ICSZ tends to serve those living on the Gold Coast and in downtown Zurich, so not very accessible to Zug and £££.

SauerKraut, thanks for asking the question. I believe we are allowed to live in a different canton; there are restricting criteria but Zuirich is Ok.

I'm sorry I don't know much about international schools, except there's one here in Baden, a branch of the Zurich one, which I don't think is full. And if you do live in Zurich, Baden is only 15 mins away on the train.

Sorry to hear you're "stuck" in Aargau. Do you manage to get out and about though?

Yes,been here 10 years now, so we know our way round quite well! I also make sure my German lessons are in Zurich and I play in a band in Baden. Are you looking forward to moving? Do you move a lot?

On the whole, we're all looking forward to coming over. Once we have the school situation I shall be more relaxed.
We are indeed used to moving. I gave birth in Holland, back to the UK for another birth, here in the States for five and a half years(no births!) and now Switzerland (definitely no more births!)Hoping to settle for a while longer this time.

It is absolutely fine to live in one canton and work in another.

I work in Solothurn, we live in Basel Land and my ds goes to bilingual school in Basel Stadt.

You pay the tax for the canton you live in. That would be the advantage of Zug. Lowest tax canton, but accommodation is through the roof so it sort of balances out. We have a four bed house in Basel Land for 1000 chf less than my mate in Zug pays for a 3 bed apartment.

Zurich tax is cheaper than most cantons too.

Have you tried the Swiss expat Forum op? There is a large section on schools there and a lot of visitors.
