Sending food abroad

Thought this might be the best place to ask this question.

Christmas presents for family back in Denmark all sorted, planned to send them via DHL and up to a certain weight limit there's not much difference in prices, so we thought we'd make up a tiny Christmas gift hamper.

All ready to send and I find out you can't send any sort of liquids/gels/pastes via the courier companies.

Can send stuff via Royal Mail but it's a bit cost prohibitive for heavy but low value items.

Is it really impossible to send a small basket with some chutneys and jams and chocolates? (It's all sealed shop bought stuff, I thought home made stuff might be a bit more iffy) Anyone found a way?
