HELP PLEASE - My husband has just been offered a fantastic job which means we need to move from our little English village to Berlin - his job is in Hennigsdorf about 21 kms from Berlin. We have two children - s(12) and d(9) and one dog. None of us speak German (yet). Where do we start???? We are just beginning to talk to his new company about relocation but it would be great to have some information so we can start our own research. Can anyone advise on:

Where to live?
Best schools?
Best way to learn German?
Best way to break the news to the kids?

I am excited and scared in equal measure. Thank you

Hi Berliner! There is a book called "living and working in Germany" which may help, you can get it through amazon.
I'd take classes for German before you go, but you'll be surprised how much you can figure out as the two languages have a lot in common. Up in Hamburg at least the germans seem generally friendly and I'm sure Berlin probably has a big ex-pat population. If you type berlin ex-pat into google you get a host of webites. Good Luck!

Thank you for the recommendation - I will look for it on Amazon.
