It is un bloody believable. DH set off home from work at 18.00. He is not back yet. The motorway junctions seem to be closed all over the place.

We have 15 cm of snow - all of which has fallen since 16.00. And it is still snowing. All very beautiful but I have to drive across the Ardennes tomorrow. I'm not going to be able to am I?

GAH!!!!

Hope you decided to stay at home?! and that your DH got home ok eventually? Mine had to walk most of the way home from the hospital - so much for resting up after an operation!

It took him 6.5 hrs to get home - finally walked in just before 1 in the morning.

We did manage to get across the Ardennes too but it did take us 30 minutes to get out of our village and a further 1.5 hrs to get out of Luxembourg. After that it was plain sailing (ish).

I heard of people sleeping in their offices. Crazy. And now it has all gone!

Your poor DH... the worst I had was a friend of a friend who spent the whole night in her car trying to get back to France, with 2 DC (one aged under 2) in the back!
Have just bought sledges for my two for Xmas so am hoping there will be some more in January :)

Well, your tale makes me feel better about the precautions I take in this weather - on Wednesday pm we set off with drinks, biscuits, snow gear on, two horse rugs for warmth and a torch just in case. And that was just a trip to the hairdressers at 18.00!

Hope your DH is OK - just saw he was in hospital. Not the ideal recuperation methos walking back in snow I guess.

Looks like we are due another big fall today doesn't it?

Am about to put together a snow kit for our car too :) today is looking ok-ish so far but I fear for the rest of the week!

DH had nasty post-op infection and is recovering slowly but definitely didn't need the walk in the snow.

Well, it's started snowing here. I wonder if that means my neighbour's dire predictions about real snow will come true? I hope not, we're going to a carol concert tonight and then off on holiday on Friday. I could really do without another drive through a blizzard!

Hope your DH is back on form.

Hmmm, good luck to you! hope you manage to get away for your holiday ok.

DH's recovery is a long slow process but we're gradually getting there...

NightFury · 16/12/2010 21:59

Well, although we managed the concert we won't be leaving on holiday tomorrow afterall. DS is sick and has to go to the doctor and the windscreen wipers broke on the 4 wheel drive on the way back from the concert (oh what fun) and I certainly am not venturing out in this weather in anything else .

Wishing your DH well and hope you enjoy the snow.

BTW Schools are closed tomorrow - have just heard from DD's teacher and from friends at the European School.

Oh no... though I don't think you sound like a wimp, sensible more like!

Had a lovely day today sleeping in and making snowmen etc :)
