Any Dubai expats?

We are trying to find somewhere hot and not too far away in mid-december. And Dubai looks like the only possibility - does anyone know what sort of temperature to expect (I have googled but would rather know what anyone thinks from experience). I have 2 DC's - 6 and 3 so don't want to risk too chilly to make the most of it or too hot - not that I'm fussy .

And also can anyone recommend a good hotel?

It can vary hugely, even from day to day, so difficult to say but usually around the 20c mark.

I'm fairly confident I have never used the outdoor pool in December but the DC (4 & 5) will happily swim and a picture of me fron Christmas day last year suggest I was wearing a short sleeved dress and shades - it was definitely sit in the garden weather but I am not sure it could be described as hot.

Sorry I am aware that that is not very helpful but at that time of year the temp can vary massively from one day to the next. It could easily be 24 on one day and drop to 16 the next.

Oh and hotel wise the absolute best in my opinion is the Madinat - it is fab and very child friendly. But there are loads of great hotels in Dubai a lot depends on budget. I would also say as a rule most 4 are at least equivilant to a European 5

Thanks Nancydrew - that is v helpful - sounds like it might be a bit on the chilly side for us then (too many summer hols in france with shivering, whiny children...
