Anyone recommend a reasonably priced European removals firm?

Moving from Austria bak to the UK in about 3 weeks, panic mode setting in. Have a cheap quote from company we moved with, but that was where we just had part a load , the lorry turned up, we packed it and it went, so there's no-one to help. Wondered how much a proper removals firm would be? Don't need the packing done though which reduces prices. Thanks

We moved from Austria to France and used Sobolak (an Austrian company), it was about 6,000 euros BUT they packed, stored our things (including a car) for 2 months. We have just moved from France to Germany and the cheapest quote and what we paid was about 7,500 euros again including a car, and we had acquired more stuff.

I've found that for international moves companies prefer to do the packing themselves for insurance purposes and I don't think it makes that much difference to the price - sorry. Also get British companies to quote, you just need to tell them how many cubic metres of stuff you have.

Shout if you have any other queries as we've moved times in Europe now.

We used ICM Gerson, who then used Seemuller to move stuff out of storage and into apartment once in France. All went well.
They were my favourite and they also gave the most reasonable quote of 4 companies.

Hamiltons (England 0845 0038259) moved us from Switzerland to Belgium. I really can't fault them. The cost was very reasonable and they took great care with our posessions.
If you do use them, James and Jack were our boys.

NOT INTERDEAN!!! They were rubbish. Crashed their lorry into our neighbours garden and took 3 times as long and charged us 4 times as much. Useless useless useless.

Allied Arthur Pierre on the other hand were BRILLIANT.

WE have just used Hamiltons Removals A Bishops Move company. Stay away from them! the breakages and problems we have had with them have been a nightmare.

When we moved to Belgium, we were supposed to use Interdean, UKG's "preferred" partner. I really wasn't happy with their insistence that everything would have to be wrapped in specialist materials, having moved previously with our own bubble wrap and newspapers, I thought their service was OTT, plus coming in to pack everything for 3 days beforehand. I instead called all the local companies, only 1 could get us to Belgium, 45m3 load at a cost of £1300 to do 200kms and a ferry ride, ONE QUARTER of the cost of Interdean, our house was packed into the lorry in one morning, the following afternoon, it took 3 hours and 5 adults to unpack, they even made up our Ikea beds and wardrobes. My advice is AVOID the big companies, find a local company. Pack yourself, make a plan of the new house and decide where everything is going, label boxes according to the floor plan.

I guess an Austria to UK move would take a day more than UK to Belgium, 3 days?? See if a UK lorry will transport you - you could always be cheeky and get local quotes with estimations in cubic metres and then get a UK company to tranport on the cubic metres quoted. I wouldn't want to pay more than 3k for what we have if it were in Autris, given the 1.3k we paid to get to Belgium.
