'EHIC' in Germany

Hi,

I'm looking for some help from someone who lives in Germany. Can anyone tell me what the German name is for the EHIC? Here in the UK we don't pay for it, and I've been asking our au pairs to bring one from Germany so they can easily access the reciprocal health care on the NHS, but my previous au pair never managed to organise it and relied on holiday insurance, and I've just found out that my current au pair is using a private health cover. I'm not sure if I'm describing it incorrectly, or if the same thing is simply not available in Germany - I don't understand how the system works there and I can't seem to find anything in English online to tell me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

I think they need to ask for "Europäische Krankenversicherungskarte"

Info in English about how to obtain it

Just had a look, the card is available from her local German health insurance provider, it is called EHIC or Europaeische Krankenversicherungskarte.
