Anyone up for a Sydney meet up??

With the arrival of the first day of spring I'm suddenly feeling the urge to have another Sydney MN meet up. The last one was fun, although perhaps we could manage a turn out of more than three people this time Grin

So if anybody's interested maybe we could start thinking about date/time/venue?

just checking back in - same time, same venue then? Looking good so far! [hsmile]

bunnygirl80 · 28/10/2010 05:08

I'm assuming everyone's still on for Saturday.

Just to confirm we're meeting at Opera Bar at 12:30

Hopefully we'll all manage to identify each other - just in case I'll make myself a (discreet) badge with MN on it. Unless anyone has any other more creative ideas on how to spot one another?

I'm going to try and make it but there are kids party transport issues to sort out before I can disappear! Something on the table to identify us? The embarrassment potential of going from table to table asking "are you bunnygirl?" is huge!

Eralc · 28/10/2010 08:00

Saturday still fine for me. I think that something on the table sounds like a good plan - I don't even know how to get into the Opera Bar(!) so will be looking confused and lost enough before I even start trying to find people!

bunnygirl80 · 28/10/2010 08:56

OK. I'll make a sign for the table.

I'm going to aim to be there a bit early so I can chose a comfy chair to park my heavily pg SPD riddled backside on. Grin

Eralc Opera bar's pretty easy to find - will attempt to give directions but will probably end up making you more lost!! If you're heading around circular quay keep going until you're almost at the Opera House and go down the escalators to the lower level. There's a few bars and cafes close together with chairs/tables etc outside. The pavement passes between the outside tables and the bar.

I think I tried to send you my mobile number as a PM the other week - did you get it?

OP posts:
Eralc · 28/10/2010 09:44

I know the escalators that you mean - have always wondered what was down there, but have only been past whilst accompanied by a 2 year old, so never explored! I do have your mobile number, so if I get lost I will give you a ring!

3thumbedwitch · 28/10/2010 12:42

Goody - this saturday still fine for me too so will hope to see you then!

abithormonal · 29/10/2010 21:27

I've gotten over my cold, just, and nothing else on so here I come.

sunnydelight · 30/10/2010 00:34

Sorry but I'm not going to be able to join you today. DD failed to tell me that she has a compulsory choir reversal this afternoon so I will think of you sipping fizz in the sunshine while I play mummy taxi all over the North Shore Sad Short of splitting DH in two there is no other option. VFemme do you want to meet for a coffee at Westfield Hornsby one day during the week?

VFemme · 30/10/2010 01:21

Sounds lovely sunnydelight - I'll PM you to arrange. Just heading out the door now to meet my friend before catching the ferry over to CQ.

See you later everyone!

scottishmummy · 30/10/2010 01:42

know sydney well, lived in westfield.loved it

3thumbedwitch · 30/10/2010 10:35

What a great meet up! Great to meet VFemme, her friend and Eralc, and to see bunnygirl and abithormonal again. Sunnydelight, so :( you had to miss it - we had a lovely time! And I am soooo pleased to discover the Baskin & Robbins' ice cream parlour [hgrin]

And don't forget in a few months' time, when all the babies have popped out and people can have a bit of time off, we'll have the MN Hunter Valley wine tour - that'll be fab!

flyingdaisies · 30/10/2010 12:22

Heh everyone

Can I join you next time for a meet up/coffee, currently in London will be relocating to North Shore next week.

Thanks to you all particularly Sunnydelight for your 'moving tips' so far, it's been really helpful to plough through the archive reading old posts.

Can't quite believe we'll all be there next week...

3thumbedwitch · 30/10/2010 12:58

wow flyingdaisies - big move! Are you moving out permanently or for a fixed term? For work or for fun?

And of course you can join us next time, whenever that is. [hsmile]

Livinginoz · 30/10/2010 13:24

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a great time, will try and make the next meetup, DH is working all weekend, but won't be soon as he's giving up his job to be a SAHD (but that's a whole other thread!)

Smiley01 · 31/10/2010 05:56

VFemme's friend here!! Good to meet you all yesterday. Having been off mumsnet for the last 6 months or so, it was a good reminder at how many topics mumsnet covers and how much help it is... Plus the rum and raison ice cream was great too! [hgrin]

VFemme · 31/10/2010 08:35

I'm definitely up for a Hunter Valley meetup next time...

3thumbedwitch · 31/10/2010 11:04

oh I'm so happy (little things do it..)
Today I found Green & BLacks milk and almond chocolate in my local Coles. Hurrah! Now if only I could find someone to import Oatibix, I'd be really happy!

flyingdaisies · 31/10/2010 14:11

3thumbwitch - Will be out there for work AND the adventure of it all. At least that's the idea, I won't be working for a good while anyway, DH has got a job in Sydney.

We're thinking at least 2 years, but have no idea - just has to see how we go.

Good to hear about Green & Blacks, whereabouts do you live?

My dd is 18 months, wish us luck on the flight!

3thumbedwitch · 31/10/2010 14:43

We are 1.5h north of Sydney, so a bit provincial. But our Coles seems to be upping its game a bit... probably because we have a Woolworths opening very soon! [hgrin]

DS has done four trips to Australia - aged ~9mo, ~20mo, 2 and a bit, and 2 1/2. He's been fine on all of them. But then he is well trained in the art of sitting and watching DVDs so is quite happy to watch the video-on-demand.

bunnygirl80 · 31/10/2010 22:03

flyingdaisies - good luck with the move

I'm definitely up for a Hunter Valley meet up next time Grin

Thanks very much, all the tips on here have been a godsend - will report back on what worked for me and hope for a good trip.

thumbwitch · 12/11/2010 03:08

Hello all!
Just wanted to let you know that bunnygirl has had her baby - a little boy, weighing in at 7lb 2oz (same as my DS was!) yesterday 11/11 at 9pm.
Congratulations bunny! :)

bunnygirl80 · 12/11/2010 03:09

Just to let you all know that my DS arrived at 9:02pm on 11/11/10 after an 8 hour labour - well I think it was 8 hours, didn't realise the cramps and backache were anything to take any notice of until I was at the obs office for my 39 weeks check and she informed me I was 4 cm dilated!!

thumbwitch · 12/11/2010 03:20
