Hi
I am in the UK and want to send my fiend's son a dvd for his birthday. He is into spongebob and wanted to get him a dvd - what format do you have? They are in Melbourne

Thanks

Australian and UK dvds are the same.
You shouldn't have any problem sending him a standard UK one.

If it doesn't work, they could always 'unlock' their DVD player so that it can play all regions (they can find the instructions on the internet).

Aussie and Uk dvd are so not the same. None of our Uk dvd's worked in Aus when we got there.

You could always buy from an Australian site. here

australian dymocks and borders have assorted spongebob paraphenalia, though i couldn't see any dvds available on their site - but may not be looking in the right place...

JBHIFI is another Aussie DVD shop that might be worth a try. We bought a region free DVD player when we moved out here so that we could watch both UK and Aus DVDs. Otherwise, look out for region 4 on the DVDs (UK is region 2). Hope you manage to find something!

Australian and UK dvds are not the same. They are different regions. Unless they have a multi region dvd player, a dvd bougt in the UK will not work.

I would look at the websites mentioned. I have no idea what channel it is played on but if it is on the ABC then they have a shop and maybe they sell online.

Like your name, HowsTheSerenity. :o

The format in Australia is called PAL. It should be listed somewhere on the box in the fine print :)

Here is the link via the well known site Moneysavingexpert to tell you how to do DVD unlocking.

I have unlocked most of my oz rellies DVD players over the years, so we could play DVDs I bought in the UK with no probs.

We must have a multi regional dvd player although our cheapie dvd player in Aus plays our UK dvds no worries.
