Good online shops in Australia?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a good all round retail website in Australia, similar to Amazon? Or a department store with an online store?

I'm trying to get my nephews birthday presents but the cost of posting the parcel is limiting what I spend - I would rather be able to spend the postage and order from an Australian website and get them a decent gift IYSWIM?

Has anyone got any reccommendations?
TIA

The two main department stores here are David Jones and Myer (think Debenhams and JL). I think they have websites. You could also try Ebay Australia for private sellers.

Can't help too much, only been here for 6 weeks! :)

For books, dvds etc

If you are planning to send him a book, it's actually cheaper to use www.bookdepository.com and they will post from the UK for free.

What were you thinking? Somewhere like Australian Geographic is pretty reliable for interesting presents for kids.

I've been here almost 2 years and found nothing comparable to Amazon- in fact if I am about to visit the UK I buy stuff from amazon and get it delivered to relatives so it's ready to be picked up and brought back here. Strong AUD makes it dirt cheap!

Amazon US delivery to Australia but Amazon UK don't. I've ordered stuff in the past and it takes roughly 5 days to get to Oz.
