our family is thinking of investing in a holiday home and I'm hoping friendly MNetters can recommend good areas to buy. Other Sweden-related advice also welcome!!

Hi Vslium,

am not Swedish but do have some good Swedish friends who have a holiday home on Oland. Sounds and looks gorgeous (haven't been myself). Hope a proper Swede (like annamama ) comes along soon.

xx

Are you looking for coastal or in the countryside?

The South and West Coasts are lovely as is Gotland

Thanks Eldon- I'm sure that DH wants coast, although he's been scouting pictures of snow-covered houses. Does it snow in coastal areas too?

I think it snows in the South but not as much as in the North

How will you get there? Might be best to look near your preferred airports/ports

Good point; will consult DH who is the dogsbody trip planner!

Have you looked at The Local ?
there are plenty of articles on there in the property section, and fora on there too to discuss things...
Which part of Sweden do you like?
