My wonderful, gentle, DF was diagnosed this week. He’s 83. We are waiting for a date for his hospital appointment. What will happen in it? Do we have a chance to ask questions? If they don’t offer treatment, can we insist on it?
I’m feeling exhausted already, but need to be there for dad and mum.

I'm really sorry. I lost my grandmother to pancreatic cancer in 1998. It was 6 months from diagnosis to the end. She wasn't offered any chemo or radiotherapy as it was so advanced by the time it was diagnosed. The end came suddenly I'm afraid, she was supposed to be discharged from hospital the day after she died.

Sending you and your family strength at this time.

Hello. Sadly, we lost Dad on Sunday. The last week was quite intense, but his final day was calm. He wasn’t in pain and he had his family with him.
I haven’t read any comments since I last posted, but will do so when I’m ready. Thank you for your wonderful support x

So sorry to hear this @AnotherGreatYearfck and sorry to hear @Harassedmum123that you lost your dad recently too. My dad also passed away this month from stomach cancer aged 85. I’m grateful we had 2 and a half years post diagnosis, and that the end was also peaceful and at home. I’m just so sad that he has gone.

I’m so very sorry - condolences to you and your family. We all have to go one day and it’s a blessing your father was surrounded by family (as mine was when he died last year). Wish you all the best for the days ahead and know that you aren’t alone. ❤️

I'm sorry to hear this. Do give some thought about having the chance to talk this over with someone at some point . I hope you have many happy memories. It's 31 years since I lost my Dad in these circumstances. I have many happy memories.

Blueskies3 · 29/04/2026 04:33

I am so sorry OP. I never imagined the magnitude of grief in losing a parent, but I get it now. It is huge and it is life altering. Please see if you can talk it out with someone

Blueskies3 · 29/04/2026 04:33

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost both my parents to pancreatic cancer six years apart. The speed of the last months (my dad) and weeks (my mum) leaves you completely blindsided. Wishing you all the strength in the world.

Oh OP, I’m so sorry. In time I hope you can take comfort in the fact that his illness was relatively short and he passed peacefully 🙏
