Hi
I don't know where to post this...

My Mum died this morning after a long illness. The GP has passed details to the medical examiner.

We can't register the death until, the medical examiner sends something.

How long does this usually take? Do they work weekends?

Thank you

I’m so sorry for your loss.
assuming you’re in the UK -
Unfortunately ME’s don’t work weekends so it will be Monday earliest it is picked up.

Most ME’s do the role for a couple of sessions a week alongside their normal clinical commitments (most are Consultants in hospital specialties, usually medical but you get the odd surgeon) so it very much depends on how their time is worked out.

You should have been given contact details for their office/bereavement services office at the hospital so I’d call them early next week and see if they can give you a more specific timeline.
