Parkinson’s and the Beechband

Been to see DBIL tonight and he’s bought a Beechband.

It’s remarkable. He ate his meal without any shaking. Just wondering if anyone else has experience of using one? Apparently they’ve only been available since June.

Just wondering

Never heard of it. And there’s nothing on the website anywhere that explains what it actually is. This almost feels like an ad.

BelfastBard · 29/07/2025 21:34

Tell a lie. There’s some brief info. Still. Wouldn’t be rushing to get it for our family member with Parkinson’s.

Not at ad at all. Just literally pooped over to see DBIL avd was impressed that his hands were still. Just wondered if anyone else was using one and what they thought?

And that’s absolutely fine of course. I think he did buy it through the Parkinson’s website.

I can’t see anything that differentiates it from the vibrate function on a smartwatch. Particularly as it can be used as an app without purchasing the band itself. And there’s nothing on the site that explains how it differs.
its great that your DBIL gets some relief from symptoms. Truly.
Bit something about it feels like clever marketing for something that already exists without a £50 price tag…

BunnyRuddington · 29/07/2025 21:54

I agree. I think there is an app? He chose to buy the band and he’s finding some relief which is so lovely to see, especially as he has young onset and still working.

I have met the inventor of the beech band at ParCon the Parkinson’s uk conference. The thing about PD is that there are so many different symptoms. I don’t really have a tremor unless I’m in an adrenaline fuelled situation. My medication has pretty much controlled my tremor. It’s not a miracle cure and like meditation, it works for some people but not for others. £50 is a drop in the ocean if you have PD and if it helps you feel normal again.

I have YOPD too, still working also.

I received an email from Parkinson’s UK. It was in Leeds last year and Birmingham this year. If you want to DM me your email I’ll forward it to you.

Thats very kind of you @UnderCoverB0ss Not sure how I DM on MN anymore though since the premier thing came out. I’ve googled and found one in Birmingham in October. Is that the one? Smile

Yes that’s it. It’s completely free. You can go for one or both days, all refreshments are included while you’re there (well they were last year) I got to meet the CEO, she was so lovely and genuinely interested in everyone she spoke to. There was so much information and interesting talks. I thoroughly recommend it.

Thanks again Under. He did seem very interested but a bit worried. Think he’s always befn a bit anxious and that’s definitely ramped up since dx.
