Bad news today

Had a nightmare today. Received news that I have type 3 breast cancer which may be in my lungs. I'm having a lung biopsy next week but the Dr seemed pretty certain.

I'm not sure what to think. Any advice or support?

I'm so sorry, that must have been very hard to hear.

Do you have anyone there with you?

Both are curable, so try to focus on getting rid of the bastard thing & making a good recovery!!🤗😘

I am so sorry. Big squishy hugs. This must feel like the end of the world, but depending upon biopsy results there may well be much that can be done. Really crossing my fingers for you.

Thanks but I don't believe it is curable. I don't have anyone with me. I've been thinking of the practicalities.

So sorry to hear this. Have they given you an appointment to discuss treatment?

tothelefttotheleft · 10/07/2025 21:34

Do you mean type?

I have breast cancer and it was grade 3. I have triple negative breast cancer.

Thanks. I need a biopsy to see if it's mestatised. They want to do an MRI of the liver and bones. So at the moment all I know for sure is that it's aggressive breast cancer. Treatment will be decided when all the results are in. The Dr said something about chemotherapy for life!

Am so sorry what a horrible frightening shock. My thoughts would be to contact Macmillan cancer support including their forums where you will find a lot of well informed advice which will not only make you feel less alone but give you hope for effective (am not saying curative) treatment options. Sending my very best wishes.

Maybe not. Grade 3? I'm sorry to hear of your diagnosis.

Very difficult news. It’s hard to know what to say because of the level of uncertainty for you about the outcome. You aren’t alone though and we are here to listen and hand hold.

tothelefttotheleft · 10/07/2025 21:38

A biopsy is usually to tell you which type of breast cancer.

Lots of us have scans to see if it's metastatic. I had a ct scan. But others have MRI.

There's a lot to take in and to be honest I left that to my more scientific daughter. I just focused on having treatment and let the reality of the results unfold as I went along.

tothelefttotheleft · 10/07/2025 21:40

@badnews943

What a lovely thing to say to me when you are in shock/disbelief etc. Thankyou.

I had operation, chemo and radiation.

Lots of people say this is the worst bit when you are waiting for a treatment plan.

Happy to talk and answer any questions if I can.

Driftingawaynow · 10/07/2025 21:52

I also have triple negative and just wanted to send a hug and a handhold

Terfandsurf · 10/07/2025 21:55

I’m so very sorry. I hope there’s treatment you can have to rid you of this awful disease 💖

Do you have someone to give you real life support? Or do you just want to be on your own at the moment?

mechanicalpencil · 10/07/2025 22:02

Sending you strength x

No, I live alone and don't have any friends. I haven't told my family. I'm going to call some charities tomorrow to see what support they provide.

I think that's a good idea. Sorry you're dealing with this on your own.

So sorry to hear this. When I was diagnosed the breast care nurse told me not to Google but to go on the Breast Cancer Now site here https://forum.breastcancernow.org/
It's a fantastic source of info and has a very supportive forum.

Wishing you all the best.

The charity, Breast Cancer Now have an excellent helpline run by specialist nurses and also an array of support and publications etc defo worth having a look at. Sorry to hear it must be very unsettling and scary time. Sending best wishes to you.

tothelefttotheleft · 10/07/2025 22:13

When I was diagnosed I was assigned a McMillan nurse.

I didn't have a positive experience with them but know other people with the same nurse who thought they were great.

There is lots of online support. I'm a member of two triple negative breast cancer Facebook groups and they are very knowledgeable and supportive.
