Formal custom shoes for swollen foot

Hi there,

My dad has a slow growing cancer in his leg and foot for many year which is swollen 3 times the size. We are getting married and we want him to feel as much as included as possible.

We’ve had his suit and trousers tailor made for his leg but could anyone point me in the direction for custom formal shoes?

it’s not normal swelling it’s a very large foot, something he can use at the ceremony and then slip into something more comfortable for the rest of the day.

thanks everyone x

DH has looked at custom orthopaedic shoes as he has really weird, difficult feet and they are at least £3k.
For my brothers wedding, my dad (who had terribly swollen legs and feet due to heart failure) wore his usual ultra wide soft black slipper boots with his suit and I hemmed the trousers so they sat right down on his foot and you can't tell at all in the photos. He wanted to try and wear 'proper shoes' for the look of things but they hurt him even trying them on, and knowing it was going to be a long day for him he decided that he needed to conserve his pain tolerance for everything else.

This isn't what you want to hear but is it really worth your Dad risking the health of his very fragile foot for the sake of a formal event ?

If he gets pressure or cutting into his skin the healing could take months (if healing takes place at all)

Have a look at Cosyfeet , they do extra wide , extra deep shoes and you can get velcro fastening extra straps .

I have lymphoedema and absolutely couldnt get any shoes on. the NHS orthotics team got me some boots that have a stretchy material in places and look like leather in others. I want to say they are by reed medical.

The lymphoedema support network might have ideas too.

Yes I was coming on to say Cosyfeet too - they send out a catalogue as well as having a website. Not custom made but will look fine.

DB wider fit shoes have some and you can pick the sizing.
I work with an orthotist and was looking for suggestions for sandals for DM, he suggested there.
