Pancreatic and liver cancer

WilsonMilson · 17/05/2023 22:49

Diagnosed today. I can’t believe it. I thought I had gallstones. The liver tumour is already 7cm, I can’t even remember what the pancreatic one was, it’s on the head of the pancreas. They did more CT scans to see further spread but I don’t have those results yet.
I just am in a blur.
My pain has been getting really bad the last few days and I’m worried this is it. I will have a meeting probably next week to discuss the plan for treatment -if any.

I’m not ready. I’m 45. I have a son and a lovely husband. I have elderly parents.

I’ve gone into hyper organisation mode. It’s madness really, but tonight I bought birthday cards for my son, husband and mum for the next 4 years. I’ve been transferring money to different accounts to make it more accessible. I’ve emailed my son’s school, I’ve started writing to do lists.

My mum is flying in on Friday and will stay with me. I’m just so devastated and so sorry for my poor son and husband. I cannot believe this.

I'm glad you're through the biopsy. Despite the horror you are going through your strength and positivity shines through. Your husband and son sound amazing and your son especially must have the proudest mum. I'm on the edge of the Peak District on the Cheshire/Greater Manchester side and check in regularly to see how your are doing. I hope you are soon home and with a plan of action for kicking cancer's arse.

KeziaOAP · 26/06/2023 20:28

Pleased you managed to get through biopsy. Hope you can get a decent sleep tonight. Sending positive thoughts from Gloucestershire.

deltablue · 26/06/2023 20:30

Forgot to say last time, I'm in Rickmansworth, Herts, but going between here and Guildford whilst my sister is in her last hours. I went to see the hospital chaplains today, they were absolutely incredible and there will be one at every hospital. You don't have to have a faith- we do, but my sister doesn't, and they are just there to provide whatever spiritual support you may need so think about it, if you would find that helpful. Lots of love, and continuing to stand with you, Pamela. Chris

Hi Pamela, wishing you all the very best from Dublin. You sound like a very strong and lovely lady with a great husband and son supporting you. Wishing you the very best as you fight this cruel illness. You can do this and you have many people wishing you well xxx 😘

Hi Pamela, although I have no advice, I just wanted to add myself to the supportive messages on this thread. You sound absolutely lovely and I’m sorry this has happened to you. Have been reading your posts and will be another one praying for you darling xx

waterlego · 26/06/2023 21:57

Good to hear your update Pamela, thank you for letting us know how things are going. I’m so pleased the biopsy is now out of the way. It sounds like it was quite a mission, but great that those in charge of your care were able to work out a way to get it done- and your bravery and determination will have made a big difference in that. Hope you get a good rest now, and that your antibiotics begin to help very soon.

Wonderful to hear of your DS and his work experience. He is clearly a very smart young man with ambition. I hope he really enjoys the experience and that having this to focus on will help him weather his worries for his lovely Mum.

You are doing so well. One hour at a time. We walk alongside you. x

lightlypoached · 26/06/2023 21:58

You sound so much more settled today.

Really good news that you managed the biopsy. Small steps.

One day nearer to going home 😊

StartupRepair · 26/06/2023 22:25

Well done for getting through the biopsy. Holding you in my thoughts. Jane in Australia.

Claireshh · 26/06/2023 23:00

Hello Pamela, i’ve been coming to check on you at least once per day. It’s so unfair what you are dealing with. I’m absolutely rooting for you. Hopefully once you have tge biopsy results they can get the stent fitted. It made a massive difference to my Mum. Sending love to you and yours. X

YouOk · 26/06/2023 23:05

Hello Pam, I hope you don't mind me shortening your name - you can tell me if I'm being rude 😂

I too have been following your thread and believe it or not have a pug called Pam after Pamelaar in Gavin and Stacey. The best Pamela to me as I'm sure you are the best Pamela to your family.

All the best,
here's a picture for you

Ps: I was so distracted by the cute dog pic I copied the prev poster and shortened your name too. Eeek. Sorry if you hate people messing with your name 😬 Goodnight 🤗

Cornishclio · 26/06/2023 23:31

What a brave lady you are. So glad you managed to get the biopsy done and your DS enjoying his work experience. Thinking of you in South Cornwall.

marapournumber4 · 27/06/2023 02:53

Sooooooooo much love and good will from Australia . from Fi.
( also as we are on sort of alternate time frames - don't hesitate to shout out when everyone in your part of the world is mostly asleep - there are lots of Australians here and we've got you too)

SarahSmith2023 · 27/06/2023 08:13

Hello again lovely. I'm so pleased your biopsy went well, I said earlier to make sure they gave the local plenty of time to work. When I had mine done, they were running behind schedule & just ploughed on with it. It was an horrific experience. Them shouting at me to lay still while shoving a 6ft needle in me (maybe a slight exaggeration) and while a nurse kneeled on the bed, laying over me to 'keep me still' like her weight in the bed was helping. I'm glad your experience was better!!

How far away from home is the hospital where they'll do the stent??

you've brought your son up to be the wonderful young man he is, he's a credit to you & DH. I'm glad he's got his gf & her parents for some extra support. I hope he enjoys his Work experience!

Lots of love to you & your family! A big gentle hug for your Mum. It's very hard for all of you, but watching her baby girl like this, she must be beside herself.

lots of love & strength
Katie in Hampshire near the Berkshire/Surrey boarders.

WilsonMilson · 28/06/2023 06:36

Hate this update. Been a really bad last 12 hours for me. So much pain, sickness and generally feel like death. Just want to go home and be peaceful, do not want to die here. Incapable of writing much. Thank you for the continued love. DH will take over if he has to.

I am sorry to hear how bad you are feeling right now. I so hope some action can be taken today that makes you feel more comfortable.
