My DH has Stage 4 prostate cancer which is stable at present. He went in for a colonoscopy and these results came through. They don’t believe it’s linked to the PC. Our heads are spinning.

Can anyone medical help with what was on the notes. The Doctor was rather cagey. Don’t worry about being blunt. I just want to understand before we go down the pathway. He has been told he needs a full body scan and potentially treatment (chemo was mentioned but in a vague way/not sure yet).

Comment:
This sigmoid colon polypectomy specimen shows expansion of the lamina propria by a dense
lymphoid infiltrate with a predominance of B lymphocytes including a population of lambda
light chain restricted plasmacytoid cells. Overall, the appearances are most in keeping
with a diagnosis of lambda light chain restricted marginal zone lymphoma /
lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma. There is no evidence of high-grade transformation in these
biopsies.

Didn’t want to read and run. No doubt you have already found out that lymphoma is a bone marrow cancer that overproduces the cells that make up the immune system. What on earth it is doing in a polyp in the colon is a mystery. How is your DH? How long do you have to wait to find out more? Waiting is the worst part in my experience. Try to stay off Google and just look at NHS or Macmillan sites. Sending hugs
