I really need some advice regarding my Dsis. She had a chest X-ray following a chest infection and was then sent for Ct scan. Scan has shown something up and her recent appointment was told it could be lung cancer. She has to go for pet scan waiting on appointment. I am Ill with worry. Can anyone share any experience of this and offer any advice or help at all. She has also had shoulder pain for a while and tired a lot. I am so scared and worried. She is 49, none smoker but used to smoke long time ago. She has kids who need her and we are a tight nit family so this is so scary and unexpected. Has anyone has anything like this and or not be cancer. I have been looking online and lots of scary things to read. Please help xx

Hi, please register with the McMillan Cancer support, I honestly don't know what I would have done without all the wonderful people who are going through a cancer diagnosis. You can speak to people on there who are going through the same as your sister. Xxx

I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. I hope you are able to register with Macmillan.

smoking many years ago wouldn’t have any bearing, I was told for a relative.

take care of yourself so you can help your sister

First thing step away from Google. The stats there are out of date and scary. For up to date stuff look on the Roy Castle Web page. Have they done a biopsy yet ? They will be looking to type it, once they have all the info they will discuss it at a MDT and treatment plan.

Just to say and this is absolutely true, my friend was 61 and had a similar thing happen. She found out through her annual health check at work which detected something and she followed it up. This was last May.

And it was lung cancer unfortunately, but she had surgery very quickly to remove the tumour which had not spread, she did not need any radiation or chemo, and is fine now and living her life to the full, as she always did. She is a non smoker.

Surgeries and treatments have advanced so much these days, so I just thought I would give a positive story.
