New MND diagnosis

I'm in shock. It's my parent, not me. But such a shock. Lost my other parent to dementia so this feels unbearable right now

Not really. Single with grown family who don't live close. My parent is also not local which makes it so hard.

Somehow thought they'd be immortal, absolutely my rock.

I'm so sorry to hear this - it's a horrible disease. The best thing you can do at the moment is to educate yourself all about it, so you can talk to your relative about it. Contact the MN association for lots of information and support. Sending hugs xx

Thank you. Yes that's what I'm doing and it's how I cope, I'd rather be aware as I was with dementia.

Just feels like it changes and overshadows everything. Also aware this is the initial shock and a normal reaction.
