Waiting for biopsy results... how long?

At a colonoscopy last Wednesday a mass was found in my bowel & biopsies were taken. The specialist nurse said they were very worried about it. Yesterday I had an MRI scan & a CT scan.
I've read results can take at least 2 weeks. With 2 bank holidays coming up I'm worried it could be longer.
Obviously the waiting is really hard.
Is there anyone with a similar experience who can tell me how long they waited, & what their outcome was?
I know every case is different, but would appreciate hearing other people's experiences.

@MissSmiley where is that? I'm being dim - I can't find it.

How long have you had symptoms for?

If it's just in the bowel that's usually very treatable. A relative had that and lived another 20+ years (died of different cancer).

If they are saying they are worried that sounds to me like they think it's spread. Do you have symptoms elsewhere?

HelpIcantfindaname · 22/05/2022 16:42

@felulageller changes in bowel habit, blood in stools, bloating, stomach pain, really tired.
But nothing else & all blood tests were OK.
I've thought I had IBS for a few years but didn't see anyone about it. It got worse last Autumn, & then much worse this year.
I eventually plucked up the courage to go to the doctor in April.
I'm 54 & very overweight.
I just hope I'm not waiting too long. I'm getting married in August...Im trying to focus on that. Plus when I'm at work I have 30 small children needing my attention so I don't get time to think about me. This weekend has dragged... can't believe I'm complaining because a weekend has dragged!

I got my results yesterday from the biopsies & scans. The nurse rang after 6pm cos their meeting was just yesterday & I didn't want to wait even longer for results.
I have cancer
The tumour in my colon is advanced but an op could remove it.
There are lesions on my liver so I need another MRI to look at those more closely, but they could be anything.
I see the consultant on Monday to find out more.
It could have been worse, they could have been telling me it's spread all over.

Sorry to hear this but at least you have some answers for now. Things should move quickly now and much as it's all a nightmare the team at the hospital are there for you and will guide you through it. Try and do something nice this weekend before it all starts.

I'm sorry to hear it wasn't the news you would have wished for. Hopefully you will soon be able to get a plan, and start treatment Flowers
