Parkinson’s and Heart Attack

DHs Aunt who has had quite bad Parkinson’s for a number of years had a heart attack this afternoon. She hasn’t lost consciousness and could speak to ask for help but I’m terrified for her and what might happen next.

She’s mid 70s, on a cocktail of drugs and in poor health generally. She can’t be put to sleep for operations and has a DNR. Should we prepare ourselves for the worst? MIL is going to pieces and not making much sense (her sister) I don’t want to be negative or get her hopes up

I'm sorry to read this, how is DH's aunt now?

My uncle is a year into his Parkinson's diagnosis so relatively early days for us. I have no advice, just my thoughts and prayers for your family.

They can do stents when someone is awake. With modern treatment there are excellent chances of her recovering from the heart attack now she is in hospital.

Hello, She survived and came home (she must have the constitution of an ox) the Drs thought it too risky to do any surgical intervention but they changed her drugs.

Long term the prognosis is poor, but we’ve got her home and with her family for now. Thank you for replying x
