Have posted on this before. Dad diagnosed with terminal cancer in Oct. it is now March and he’s having a really off day. Usually his pains are a 2/10. Today he says it’s a 6. He’s lost now 6 st from 15.5 some to 9:5 stone. We live 1:5 hours away and he was coming to us every week but he is struggling now with car journeys. He was asking when I could make it over. I suspect we are starting to hit the rapid decline. How do you know? He is barely eating and says he’s now needing a stick to steady himself. He said he went to put his dinner on a table but completely missed it and ended up in floor. My ds has temperature so just watching him for covid but want to go over to see my dad as he’s now sounding really vulnerable

I am so sorry your DF, you and your family are having to suffer this dreadful illness. My dad died in January after an 18 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He deteriorated rapidly in the month before he died and was bed bound for the the last 2-3 weeks. Like your dad his weight plummeted as eating became impossible. In my experience my dad just gradually withdrew, he didn't take part in conversations and he slept more than he was awake.

Does your dad have support ( other than you)? Our local hospice sent people out to see what help and support they could offer and district nurses came in to ensure pain management. There is no reason for your dad to have any pain or discomfort as it can be managed.

I really wish you all the best.
