So worried for my poor dad

My DF has lung disease, it's some sort of autoimmune related disease that's causing his lungs to deteriorate. In the past 14 months his lung capacity has reduced from 52 down to 40%. I don't know what to think. Does anybody have any experience of this?

My mum had COPD which was awful too. My friend's dad had pulmonary fibrosis which sound a bit like what you are describing. I think it is so hard to watch your parents become frail and older and it is totally out of your control. Can they do anything to alleviate the effects of it?

Thanks for your reply. He's been on steroids and had pulmonary rehab etc but obviously there's no cure . I'm sorry your mum suffered with COPD. It's horrible seeing those we love and care for suffering.

I’m sorry to hear that. My DF died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis a couple of years ago. He was diagnosed 10 months before he died but had been ill for about 4 years before that. It is difficult to watch them decline but DF had good care and managed at home (with oxygen) until a few days before he died. Sending you warm wishes.
