Terrified it might be cancer

It probably seems really irrational, but my mum died 6 years ago from cancer and I've been terrified about having it ever since.

I've recently started getting bruising, mostly on my legs which is unexplained. I'm also feeling so exhausted all of the time, even with a good nights sleep. I'm getting headaches and today I've noticed pin prick blood spots on my arms and stomach.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I don't know if I'm being silly but Dr Google is straight away telling me leukaemia... and that is scaring the absolute shit out of me! I'm only 26 😓

And yes I'm going to call drs tomorrow for an appointment

Did you call the GP?

@Borntobeamum yes I called the GP and she wanted me to get blood tests done. When I called to get them they wanted me to wait 2 1/2 weeks! so I ended up going private and had them done Friday.

I should have the results back this week so fingers crossed nothing serious 🥺

🤞🏼💗

I hope everything's OK. Can the pinprick bruising me cause by anything else, like something tight around your arms or stomach? Is it where your sleeves end or your waistband?

Thanks @HollowTalk
I don't think so, no. I have them on my forearms, top of my arms. My stomach, my face even. And the bruising I haven't done anything to cause so I'm really not sure.

I don't seem to have had much new bruising lately but the pinpricks are still there and I'm still exhausted so I'm definitely hoping for some answers this week. Thankfully the blood test results are sent to me directly as well as the GP so I'll know straight away

You haven't vomited lately, have you? I get that sort of bruising on my face and neck if I've been sick.

2020firsttimemum · 05/07/2021 17:02

@HollowTalk nope, no vomiting! It's just really odd. I wouldn't have even looked for the pinpricks. I was looking up on Google the symptoms (as you do) and it came up with pinpricks and I was like nah I'm good. But when I actually looked I saw them. They're so tiny so very easy to miss I guess

Anyone able to understand blood test results? 😳

In terms of the blood test results there is a great website that explains everything. Google ‘blood test results explain’.
However I would advise waiting to speak to a doctor about them. Different levels can mean loads of different things.
I’m wishing you all the best xx
