Hi everyone. I would appreciate any advice! My 92 year old grandad had a stroke on Nov 13th. Since he went into hospital, he also caught Covid. He also fell over an broke his hip. Amazingly he has survived all of this and is now in a rehab hospital for strokes. He will be there for 5 weeks. He will either need to go into a care home or have live in carers. We would really like him to have a live in carer and he can afford this. The problem is he didn't make anybody Power of Attorney. We are applying for Deputy but due to Covid this could take up to 12 months. Is there anyway we can pay for the live in carer before deputy comes through. Also, since he has been in hospital, his roof has collapsed and there is lots of water damage. This will need fixing. Is there anyway we could pay for this? The solicitor has said we should not pay for this with our own money. Somebody suggested trying to get a bursary but he has enough money in his bank account. All we need is a loan out in his name to pay straight back when the Deputy has come through.
