Testing rather quick?

My mum went to doctors last week due to irregular bleeding and pain, they gave her a quick check and referred her to hospital for further tests, she went to today and they said she has a thick lining of the womb and have taken biopsys of her cervix and womb. This seems to be very rushed but aren't saying much, would how quick it's all happening indicate cancer or could it still be nothing? Very worried right now!

It doesn't necessarily mean cancer - biopsies are taken to test for fibroids, polyps, hormone imbalances and yes, cancer too. The process has been 'quick' because IF cancer is a POSSIBILITY most trusts will have a two-week pathway.

Is there a time frame for an urgent referral?
Some of the UK nation have targets around how quickly you will be seen.

In England, an urgent referral means that you should see a specialist within 2 weeks. In Northern Ireland, the 2 week wait ONLY applies if you are referred for suspected breast cancer.

This 2 week time limit does not exist in Scotland and Wales. But wherever you live, you are seen as quickly as possible.

Ask your GP when you are likely to get an appointment.

Does this mean I have cancer?
It is normal to worry when you are urgently referred to see a specialist by your GP. However, 9 in every 10 people (90%) referred this way will not be diagnosed with cancer.

They've said she has a fibroid and a cyst but now waiting for results, I'm glad it definitely doesn't mean cancer waiting is the worst part
