DF has Cancer and it won’t be long now. It might seem a bit odd me being on here but if there’s one thing that will keep me awake it’s MN.

Just wondered if anyone else is around Smile

The night time hours are always the longest,
I'm sorry that your going through this, has your dad been ill for long ?

Thanks

Thanks peanut. No he’s not been ill for long really, just before Christmas. We got the Cancer diagnosis last Friday but had suspected before that. We’re trying to get him into a Hospice as that’s what he wants but they aren’t going to assess him until Monday and I’m not sure he’ll last that long. He finally got morphine today so he’s a bit more settled tonight. He’s just cracked a beautiful smile in his sleep, the kind babies do. Don’t know what he’s dreaming about Smile

Sorry you are at this place OP. I sat with my Df for 5 days and nights before he went. You have to find ways to stay sane. Take turns sleeping if you can. Eat regularly. Go outside for some fresh air. It was July and glorious weather. Was lovely having daylight most of the time since it was all a blur. MN away. He won't mind.

Hope it is a peaceful end 💐

⚘I did exactly the same 5 months ago. my heart goes out to you, it's the toughest thing I've had to do. I also came on mumsnet to pass the hours and got some lovely comments from other posters .
I hope the next few days arnt too difficult ⚘

Thank you so much too 2018. He’s got an adjustable bed now so has had a decent sleep and looks much better today. He may just make it to the Hospice after all Smile

Sending love and thoughts to you all. I’ve done this with both Mum and dad and it’s so difficult. You go into a bubble for a period of time where everything else stops. Take good care of yourself and keep talking to him Flowers

Thinking of you and your Dad. This will be me soon, it’s just a waiting game. Take care of yourself

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 03/02/2018 12:09

Thank you both. Really appreciate it. We’ve had a call from the Hospice who are coming out this afternoon to assess him for Hospice at Home as the Hospice Nurse thought that he may not survive a transfer to the Hospice. Thanks again Thanks
