Brain Tumour support thread

Evening all,

Just wondered if anyone wanted to have a thread running for brain tumour support?
My dm has a stage 4 glioblastoma and has about 4 months left and has just gone into a nursing home. Finding it all quite difficult to process although trying to keep my head above water with looking after toddler and keeping life running as usual.

OP, I lost my DH to GBM a few years ago. It is a dreadful disease. Things can evolve rapidly, too. When was she diagnosed? Feel free to pm me if you have any question. Sending you lots of encouragements.

My aunt was diagnosed with this in the Summer; it's very scary. I'm sorry about your mum, lake, and for your loss, iona. How long was your DH ill for?

My DH has been diagnosed with an ependymoma, we are seeing the neurosurgeon in a couple of weeks. He will need surgery and radiotherapy, he's terrified of the possible complications/ long term effects. It's all very stressful.

Sorry for the late reply - my DH was ill for 2 years and a half. His quality of life was great until the last 5 months, which were very tough. Being taken care of by a good team, whether at a hospital or in a nursing home, is essential in my view. It really makes a major difference, for those who are sick, and for those caring for them, too. I hope it is the case for your mum, OP.

MissyB1, my DH had brain surgery prior to chemo and radiotherapy. The surgery itself went superbly well, he recovered very quickly, with no side effects or pain. We were discharged after 4 days. I know how scary it can be to await brain surgery, but I would think it is good news if your DH can have it performed, it usually means the prognosis is better.

Morning all,
DM is still alive although was given 6 months in July and moved to the Care Home in September so is 3 months into the 6 month prognosis now.
She's getting more tired in the day, and more forgetful. Also doesn't have much of a filter when it comes to complaining about something for example.
Finding it very hard going , keeping all the paperwork up to date as there is a lot to do (not helped by her interfering parents and sister).
3 weeks to go until dc2 arrives , hoping she is ok to meet him.

Forgot to add---- feeling very guilty if I don't go everyday to see her and take her out even though I am totally exhausted / not giving attention to my dc1 and partner etc.
Don't really know what to do, as she makes it quite clear that she doesn't want to be alone in the Care Home all day without seeing people she knows.

How is everyone else ??
