Three people close to me

Hi all,

My best friend has an incurable brain tumour, she's gone deaf now and she can't walk very far.

My brother had a double stoma operation for rectal cancer two weeks ago and they found secondaries in his lymph nodes.

My dad has oesophagus cancer and has a stent last week so he can eat. He's got lung cancer too. I don't think he's going to have any chemo or radio as he's 85.

It's all shit.

Don't know why I'm posting really. I am coping day to day. But it's hard.

They're all abroad so I'm not doing any caring.

Will you have the opportunity to visit at all?

My DH had an oesophagal stent fitted last May and went from being unable to swallow to eating almost normally within days - it was amazing to watch.

I saw my dad and friend at the weekend. I will go again in about a month and for Easter. My brother is in a different city, I saw him before Christmas but I'm not sure when I'll see him next.

Yes my dad is the same, he had casserole and mashed potatoes a week after stent and before that he'd had nothing but soup and ensure drinks since before Christmas.

Yeah it just seems like it's a lot to cope with at the same time! One of them being sick would be bad enough!!!

Sorry to hear about your dh squirrels.

I'm glad you've seen them and have plans to go again.
It must be very hard to be at a distance and not be able to be there for them at the moment, and even harder with more than one.
My dad had a bowel stoma over 20 years ago and copes with it without any noticeable problem, most people don't know he has it.

Ah that's good to hear! I think he would be fine with that eventually, but I'm worried about the secondaries in the lymph nodes. He met with a family friend who has also had a stoma for 20 years and found it reassuring. He said he was sleeping a lot today which worries me.

It is hard to be away. I am worried about my sister too as she is caring for my dad, he's just moved into a granny flat at her house. My brother relies on her a lot too. I'm alot younger than them.
