Pulmonary Hypertension

MY FIL was diagnosed with PAH -idiopathic 6 months ago.
He has not been offered any treatment as yet other than continuous O2 .He is now waiting to be seen at the Royal Brompton , he's hoping that he will be offered some treatment to alleviate his symptoms .

Has anyone got any experience of drug treatments used?

Can't really help, but bumping for you.

It all depends why he has PAH tbh.

Diuretics are often used, b-blockers, ACE-Inhibitors, but you really need to get accurate info from his treating ?cardiologist.

Is he in hospital or at home?

it's idiopathic , so they don't know why, he's had a multitude of tests ,is on diuretics but not massive dose as kidney function was affected.
He's at home , not able to mobilise without chest pain and his sats are shit when he mobilises even on O2

cardiologists at local hospital have referred him to Brompton specialist centre , which we're waiting for appt .

wondered if anyone had experience of prostaglandins ?? I am hoping they will prescribe something and it will give him some semblance of life quality back.

He will be in good hands at the Brompton. Their care is second to none. I hope he gets the appointment soon.
