Cimzia (certolizumab pegol) injections - anyone?

First time posting about DH, really hope i'm in the right Topic.

DH has just been prescribed Cimzia to treat his Ankylosing Spondylitis(?) and I was really hoping to hear some success stories or experience of this?

What can I expect, what should I be doing to help him?

Hi, I've never posted on a forum before so I hope I can be of some help.
I started taking cimzia 6 weeks ago. From what I can tell after trawling the internet, most users get a good outcome from using it and the pain decreases over time.
I have noticed the pain is easier and I do sleep better at night.
However, the Internet is full of cimzia users for RA and Chrones and very few that have AS.
Your DH will be your best guide as to how to support him. For me I like my DH to be in the room with me just in case I need him but I am fine with needles and although it hurts a little, causes me no real discomfort. The only thing he does do is help with the children and house work a bit more for a couple of days as I do get really tired. It's for this reason I choose to do them on a Friday evening.
I'd love to know more about your DH and his AS. I was shocked when they diagnosed me and pretty much went straight to cimzia. I've looked on the NASS website but you can't speak to anyone without paying to join.
Has he started his injections yet? Has he seen any improvement? Has he experienced any side effects?

Just an update Cat he's taken three sets of injections now over the last two months and there has definitely been an improvement. In his words he no longer has "very bad days" or stiffness. He never complains about the pain any more and he gets straight up out of bed now which he never used to be able to do, it could take anywhere up to 20 minutes in the past because he'd sleep so poorly and become incredibly stiff (sometimes needing help to get upright)

The injections are really easy although you do have to keep them in the fridge, in their big boxes and not touching anything else which is a massive pain.

There has only been one side-effect which is his little finger on left hand has gone completely numb but he hasn't been to the GP yet so it could be a trapped nerve.
