My best friend is only mid-50s, and has beein living with stage 4 colon cancer, which has spread to his liver, lungs, and bones. The doctors have told him that any care is palliative, not a cure.
He broke a leg last month - just going downstairs. His bones are so weak that they cannot support his weight. It's all downhill from here.
The poor guy is worried about getting his biopsy results, worried about his up-coming bone scan, etc. There's not going to be much good news.
On the one hand we have a good medical system, he is okay for money, and his wife (no kids) is very supportive. On the other hand... there's not much to look forward to.
So, what do I say to him? Is there any way I can comfort him?
