Would 'life threatening' not 'life limiting' not be a more sensitive topic title

Not all illnesses are life limiting if they are cured. They may threaten life but to say that it will limit it is not particularly positive. There are millions of cancer survivors who's lives have not been limited but who may wish to post on this topic but find the title a bit negative.

Isnt the phrase meant to pick up things like MS that do not cause death but will limit how you live your life due eg to mobility issues? ie limiting not in terms of shortening but in terms of reducing what you can do?

Yes, I always thought it was meant to encompass stuff like MS, lupus, other illnesses which may well not be life threatening but may impact on daily living.

I always thought this section, as Augusta says, was for people with conditions which are not curable, but probably not terminal or "life threatening" either. Illnesses/conditions that people have to learn to live with.

Life threatening would be something different again I imagine, like an auto-immune disease.

I think you have misunderstood the meaning of "limiting".

There are alot of posts on here referring to cancer diagnosis so i think that threw me. Trying to find a support thread for cancer survivors and their Dps ....would be useful if anyone can point me in the right direction

Look for the Tamoxifen thread in the General Health section .
Mostly it's for people 'going through' either diagnosis or treatment, but people then 'pop back in' once they are in remission or cured.

life limiting means incurable but life span longer than 6 months, under 6 months it becomes a terminal illness sadly had that explained to me by the McMillan nurse.
