International search for stem cell donor - can you help?

This lovely lady is related to a friend of mine, and is desperately seeking a perfectly-matched bone marrow stem cell donor. She has acute myeloid leukemia. So far her two brothers have been ruled out, along with another potential donor who wasn't an exact match. Time is running out, and I'm hoping you will read the link below and share. There is info on how to put yourself forward in the UK.

From the article: "She is desperately seeking people who share her ethnic background of Irish and Anglo-Burmese to volunteer as potential stem cell donors. Anyone with a south Asian heritage could also be of benefit."

As another poster kindly pointed out on the other thread, the upper age limit is 55 if registering via the Delete Blood Cancer charity, whereas it's only 30 for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

I am donating stem cells next month. It really is a pretty straightforward procedure these days... Similar to donating blood. I am a little nervous as the time approaches but that's mainly because its my db I'm donating for. I would urge everyone eligible to sign up to the universal register... Stem cell transplants are potentially a CURE.
This is the single most important thing I'm ever likely to do in my life.

I've had a blood transfusion, do you know if I would still be eligible to donate?

Had a look and unfortunately don't think I would match, half German/Scottish.

Schro I've done a quick bit of googling, and it doesn't say anything about not being able to donate having had a transfusion. If you're minded to I'd say go for it, you may just be able to help someone!

I actually had the info/application pack before I had DS2 but thought because of the transfusion I would no longer be able to.

I don't think a blood transfusion will have any bearing, they run extensive virology tests etc so any issues from a blood transfusion would come to light, where as with donating blood they don't have the time or money to test all blood so rule out donations where problems may exist. I had a bone marrow transplant last year and know that they know of every little detail of my brothers blood and they would stop the donation is a significant issue came to light.
