I've been reading your thread and not commented yet but saw it was transplant day today. Just wanted to add to the well wishes and say I'm thinking of you. I know all too well what a horrible horrible disease this is and just wanted to say stay strong!

Borderterrierpuppy · 15/10/2014 03:40

Another lurker. Popping on to say hang in there, so great that transplant has happened, thinking of you x

TanteRose · 15/10/2014 03:49

Thanks thinking of you, biscuits

biscuitsandbandages · 15/10/2014 09:51

Hi All :-)

Outside appearances can be deceptive Grin day 2 today and I have neutropenic sepsis so back on antibiotics and look like death. But im alive and my sense of humour is back despite being a physical wreck.
Am having a nasogastric tube today as throat is too sore to swallow and im losing weight so they are going to feed me directly. I do not like this plan personally but I agree it makes sense. Will try not to vomit on the nurses.

Wow you are amazing biscuits - even keeping us all in the loop and keeping your sense of humour intact with all this going on.

You're playing the long game here... The period of time after the transplant can have twists and turns but keep on hanging on in there; you have received your long awaited transplant and now we need to wait for them to work their magic.

My db is receiving my cells today (donated yesterday) Smile

OrangeyTulips · 15/10/2014 10:17

Glad to hear from you Biscuits. Sorry to hear that you are getting a tube but we can still lob virtual biscuits to youBiscuit Biscuit Biscuit. Gosh Confused sounds like you've been climbing up a hill a bit. Get plenty of rest and let them feed you up to fight the infection. Sending love, Orangey

OrangeyTulips · 15/10/2014 10:18

Lines glad to hear db is getting his cells. Well done you! Smile

AWombWithoutAFoof · 15/10/2014 10:25

Vomit on them if you like, you deserve a treat. Grin

Best of luck too for Lines DB.

biscuitsandbandages · 15/10/2014 10:42

Crushed hobnob down the ng?

Yay lines!!

OP posts:
Southwellian · 15/10/2014 11:21

Crushed hobnobs all the way

Thinking of you (flowers)

Southwellian · 15/10/2014 11:22

I'm obviously sending you personalised hand written flowers X

Legionofboom · 15/10/2014 11:29

A steady supply of biscuits direct to the stomach you say? I may steal that idea and take it on dragons den.Grin

Seriously I hope the antibiotics do their thing and you feel better soon.

Grin at AWombWithoutAFoof

And fingers crossed that all goes well for Lines DB

FarelyKnuts · 15/10/2014 11:50

Surely they arrange biscuit flavoured feeds for your tube :o
Thinking of you, lovely lovely fierce warrior woman! I hope those cells are off waging war even half as hard as as we all are wishing you well

Kundry · 15/10/2014 12:22

It's a good plan as sore throat doesn't really cover how painful it can be. But NG tubes are horrid Sad

magimedi · 15/10/2014 13:48

Biscuits I am truly amazed by your courage & humor.

Think of you so often.

(((xxx)))

Muchtoomuchtodo · 15/10/2014 19:43

Sorry to hear that you're neutrophils have gone AWOL again and let another infection in but fingers crossed the ab's work quickly.

The NG tube sounds like al good, although unpleasant plan to keep you at fighting weight. It'll be worth it I'm sure.

Stay stale.

Xxx

biscuitsandbandages · 15/10/2014 20:17

Oh my goodness. Ngs are horrid!
Its in though and in my stomach not my lung so whoop whoop.
They tried to give me lots of meds down it after only having sips for 4 days. Obviously I vomited fairly swiftly so we are back to iv meds and trying a very very slow ng feed til I get used to it.
Really feeling relatively good today though. Cant get out of bed for more than a minute but while im here and not moving or speaking I can imagine im fairly normal. Itsnice :-)

Am badly craving a bacon sandwich though. Not good for amuslim who cant eat at the moment lol Grin

I cannot imagine tolerating a plastic tube stuck down my throat. Credit to you for dealing with it in such good humour.

At what point to you start to get information about new cell growth?

magimedi · 15/10/2014 20:28

I can only echo my last post - you are so amazing.

Hope the ng feeds get a little easier.

Am sure that Allah would grant you a bacon sarnie - you have every dispensation for one.

And craving a bacon sarnie is good news - if you were really ill (Grin Grin Grin ) you wouldn't be thinking about food at all.

Tell you what, I'll have said sarnie for you tomorrow!!! And then blame you for calorie overload!! Grin

Stay stale & keep on being so strong - we are all with you every step of the way.

biscuitsandbandages · 15/10/2014 20:29

Another 10 to 14 days. ... though all we will know then is that bone marrow is growing cells again. It wont be until the first bone marrow biopsy after day 100 that they will be able to tell me if they are my cells or the donors. Hoping for 100% donor cells!

OP posts:
biscuitsandbandages · 15/10/2014 20:32

Its a deal magi!

Though I have just found somewhere that does halal beef bacon Wink and may stock up when I get home

OP posts:
Goldmandra · 15/10/2014 20:33

Day 100!

That's forever when you're waiting for this sort of news. I had no idea it was such a long time.

Hoping for 100% donor cells!

We're all behind you on that one xx

Stay staleGrin . Well done on getting through today.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 15/10/2014 21:11

Good work today. When I was training we had to practice naso phangeal suction on each other so I can kind of empathise about the NG tube.

It's fab to hear your strength and sense of humour shining through. Getting out of bed is overrated in the kind of weather that we've had today. Save that for another day!
Xx
