skin cancer

I found out today that my father has skin cancer on his leg, they are going to remove it after Christmas. I don't know what sort it is or whether it has spread because he hasn't said, he doesn't want to know about it.

it started over 20 years ago.
your dad may be able to get it treated and carry on a normal life, i think you should ask him what type he has?

My mother has had melanomas removed for years. As long as they are caught in time they can be removed fully. Sorry you have the worry of the unknown. Hopefully your DF will know more when its removed.

Definitely find out what type it is before panicking.
My 83YO grandmother has just finished treatment for skin cancer on her face and it's all gone really well. To be fair, she did have a basal cell carcinoma which isn't very serious and is slow growing, but she just had some painless 10 minute radiotherapy every day for 3 weeks and all is fine. We have a new cancer centre near us and she was treated amazingly :)

Thank you He doesn't know what sort it is since he told the consultant that he didn't want to know From what little he has said I think its the less serious type.
He is having surgery where they will cut it out.

My db has had skin cancer on his face. It has come back once but both times surgery was successful and has had no on going effects other than some small scarring on his face.
