Sending good luck your way!
I’m not in the 2ww but I am in the wait between a positive result and a viability scan! Bit nervous… found this wait harder than the 2ww this time!
How are you feeling? Fingers crossed for you!

LilahBelle95 · 10/07/2024 10:08

Thank you and congrats on your positive! I am sending lots of good luck your way for your viability scan! I am sure it will go well.

I am OK - this is my second IUI and so I know the chances are slim. I really got my hopes up last time and so this time I am trying to remain realistic and just hope for the best but try not to be too upset if it's negative.

After this, I will be proceeding with IVF which I am slightly nervous about but I would do anything to have a baby!

Is this your first baby? Have you been trying for long?

I will keep my fingers crossed for you! I hope it all goes well 🤞🏼🤞🏼 when is your test date?
How come you’re nervous about IVF? I know it’s daunting but is there anything you’re particularly worried about? I can try and ease nerves if it helps! But hopefully you want need to go to that anyway 🤞🏼🤞🏼
We are incredibly lucky and have a 17 month old little girl. But I’ve had 5 transfers so lots of fails and a MC too. The road has been tough but I know we are so lucky to have our little girl… we are just hoping to give her a sibling. This is our last shot as we had 2 embryos in the freezer so we’ve put them both in and will see what happens!
I hope you’re coping ok with the wait and feeing ok xx

LilahBelle95 · 10/07/2024 22:14

Thank you so much!
Well I’m due my period on Monday so I think I’m going to wait and only take a test if I’m late - that would be exactly 2 weeks post IUI too so if makes sense really.

I think I just feel nervous because of the unknown, I was the same with my first IUI but the second was a breeze (in terms of scans and taking my meds). I’m sure once I’m on IVF road and things are in motion I’ll be OK. I don’t really know anyone in my personal life whose done it before so it helps to have forums like this to talk to people who have been or are going through it. I broke down to my partner tonight just because I feel so stressed about everything. How did / do you prevent this from taking over your life?? It’s hard isn’t it! I struggle to look forward or enjoy other things as my mind is preoccupied. My clinic offers counselling which I might consider.

I’m sorry to hear about your MC but I’m so happy to hear you have your little girl. It must make all the tough times so worth it. I’m keeping everything crossed for your 2nd.

xx

Oh, good luck OP! I had three failed attempts at IUI but got pregnant first time with IVF. The result is now 19 months old and has been awake since 3:30am 😂

Happy to answer any questions if you have any!

Oh that's so great to hear your first round of IVF worked! Were your IUIs medicated and with donor sperm?

I've really got the mindset that the first IVF round will work for us - not sure why, I think just because I know the chances are so much higher than with IUI! I'm 10 dpo today and have mild period cramps on and off. I'm due this weekend so determined to hold off testing until then.

I'm feeling more positive today, if this IUI fails at least it means I'm a step closer to IVF and hopefully falling pregnant :)

My IUIs were unmedicated as I was in the 98th centile for fertility for my age (31 at the time)- the doctor said medicated IUI would be a huge risk for twins, which I didn't want to risk! We used donor sperm, which was unfortunately a bit shit quality- we ended up having to do ICSI, where they inject the sperm directly into the eggs.

If you are below 35 and have no fertility issues, IVF has a very high chance of working first time. It's just much more of a faff than IUI, but it's definitely worth it.

Oh no! I hope you are feeling a bit better today? Sometimes just getting it all out can help as well so don’t worry if you have a little breakdown. I hope you and your partner had a cuddle and felt better afterwards!
In all honesty it does consume your life. I don’t think there is anyway to get past that! But try to have a few things nice to do or look forward to. A meal out, date night, meet a friend who doesn’t know about it so you have to talk about something else!! That kind of thing. Just to give your mind a break from it all.
I do think talking about it helps as well. Whether that’s with your partner, a close friend/family member or a counsellor. Just give yourself space to get it all out but then stop and distract yourself for a bit so it’s not all consuming!
I hope you are having a better day today xx

LilahBelle95 · 11/07/2024 18:22

@Brightandbreezey thank you so much for checking in.

I'm feeling much better today :) I'm on progesterone pessaries at the moment and since taking them they've been making me so emotional 😆😅.

Thanks for the advice, I'm certainly trying to distract myself as best as I can. This weekend I have some fun plans with friends and family which will be nice!

When's your scan? I hope you're ok xx

Yeah the hormones are crazy! Just look after yourself as much as you can. Plans this weekend sound great… just keep as busy as possible And surround yourself with people who love you!
My scan is tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Thank you so much @LilahBelle95! We’ve had the shock of our lives and have twins!! Two healthy heartbeats 💗
We put two embryos in when we had our little girl and only one took so we weren’t actually expecting them both to! 😱
How are you feeling today?

Oh my goodness! Congratulations! How are you feeling about having twins?! How old is your little girl- will she be old enough to be slightly helpful when they're born?

Brightandbreezey · 13/07/2024 08:01

Thank you so much!!! 💛
It’s been a bit of a shock but my initial reaction was absolute pure joy! Then all the worry and stress came in!! 😂
My little girl is 17 months, so she will only be around 2 when they are born. A lot of my worry is how she will be, she’s super good (except sleeping) so I’m hoping she takes the transition ok. I think shes my big worry and then how on earth I’m going to look after 2 newborns!
By the way love your name… that book is amazing (I love the film too but the relationship between Ruth and Idgie is a bit too suitable for my liking 😂)

Brightandbreezey · 13/07/2024 08:16

Subtle not suitable 😂 won’t let me edit!

Two is about the age they start to show an interest in babies, so she will probably find them cute, at least! Hopefully she'll be able to understand enough to do some fetching and carrying for you! And if you're seeing to one baby and the other is crying, she can dance around and entertain the other. And if all else fails, there's always screen time 😂

It's my absolute favourite book ❤I love the film, too, I think the casting was perfect. The two leads did a very good job of showing the chemistry between Ruth and Idgie despite the writers and producers trying to de-lesbian the film.

I'm okay thank you! 🩷 I can feel my period about to come but I honestly feel positive and ready to head down the IVF route! I'm feeling positive and hearing success stories (like yours) definitely helps!!!!

I'm sorry it hasn't worked this time, but IVF will almost certainly be successful for you, with a very good chance of it working first time.

Just be aware that, as you are young (I'm assuming the 95 in your username is your birth year) and have no fertility issues you are quite likely to develop OHSS, so it's worth doing some reading about it so you know what to look out for. I had mild OHSS and was fine, but it can develop and be dangerous.

If you do develop OHSS, they won't do a fresh transfer- they will freeze all the embryos and wait a month or two for your hormones to settle down before the implant. This was a real shock and disappointment for me, so I want to make sure you're aware it's a possibility.

Thank you so much and yes 1995 is my birth year. Thanks for the heads up. I'd recently discovered what OHSS was when someone I was following on TikTok developed it after undergoing IVF (she was younger than me) and she had to be hospitalised. I had no idea what it was or how serious it can be before coming across her profile!

I'm certainly going to do more research on it as like you said, it's so important to know what the symptoms are and what to look out for. She was really disappointed when she found out she had to have a frozen transfer too so I'm pleased I'm aware of this beforehand and know what my chances are so I'm in not as disappointed as I might be if I found out completely out of the blue.

That's the thing with this process, you just never quite know how long everything is going to take and what setbacks you might face but I know eventually it will all lead to a positive result. Just need to remain patient (which is not my best skill haha but I'm working on it 😂)

@IdgieThreadgoodeIsMyHeroine - thanks for the kind words! I am so worried about everything but you have shown that it can work out. My eldest might really like it. I am sure we will have moments. But I do think eventually she will enjoy having other children to play with! It’s the main reason we tried again, so she’d have a sibling. Now she’ll have two!!
@LilahBelle95 how are you doing? How has your weekend been? I hope you are feeling ok!
