Furries

Today my DD came home from school , she’s 6th form and told me there was a child that identifies as a furry …. New to me this one . Wears a collar at school , although has been declined a request for a litter tray in class . On talking to my D.D this seems to be a large influence of social media . My concerns are not that someone wants to be their own being of cause they should - but the influence of social media and more importantly how these people can navigate in life without support … Thoughts on this please

I don’t believe you.

HermioneWeasley · 12/05/2023 20:02

Nobody will ever convince me that Furries aren’t degenerate and disturbed. The overlap with diaper fetishes is immense. Furverts.

MrsChuckBass · 12/05/2023 20:02

This doesn't surprise me actually, I've got a yr10 DC and they have allsorts of tales like this from school

Unicorn34 · 12/05/2023 20:03

My youngest (22) has spoken about furries for years. People who actually wear specially made fur suits! The only time it really weirds me out is when two furries get together for "adult time" - that's just wrong!

CombatBarbie · 12/05/2023 20:04

A fetish that's become normal.... I fear for my kids these days

ICMB · 12/05/2023 20:06

I try not to associate with that sort of thing but from what I remember hearing, I think it’s some sort of bestiality/zoophilia

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:10

Totally true . I lol at first , then looked it up…. Looking up being the operative word … so have other children . Is this a social issue of media or a genuine change ? I don’t know which is why I asked

From what I recall from a previous thread, people were saying there were two types, those that just dress up with no sex association and those who do it expressly for a sexual reason. Both just seem so strange to me.

Mrsjayy · 12/05/2023 20:12

Somebody I know of has just been sent to prison for sexual assault he identified as a furry ,(,dog) and had a "pack" vulnerable young adults. This is a worrying thing for people to I' D as and "we" are expected to tolerate this,! It's horrifying.

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:13

And that’s fine , if it’s a preference … but what concerns me is two things firstly support for interactions and secondly is this an influence of kids media .

A woman I know earns a lot of money making outfits for furries. Her latest creation was a zebra complete with hooves. I wish I was as canny with a sewing machine.

I'm not sure I believe the bit about the furry in the OP requesting a litter tray, that's not part of the fetish.

DancingintheSpoonlight · 12/05/2023 20:16

The litter tray in class got me…too much internet for today 😂

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:17

As I said this is news to me , people’s identifications are their right . Sexuality is a right if it complies within the remits of compliance and law . However my question is simply kids screen time influencing them

CandyLeBonBon · 12/05/2023 20:17

Yeah the litter tray in the classroom jumped the shark there!

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:20

Good for her , people are right to explore their own fetish . However that’s not not my question . Is blue screen time having such an impact on our children that it can’t be supported

OP posts:
Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:24

Of cause it’s fine to be your individual person … no harm , the question again is , it is you or social media that dictates your child’s inner thoughts

DancingintheSpoonlight · 12/05/2023 20:27

I suppose on a plus more screen exposure gives more ideas and knowledge and shared experiences of things that help people explore, providing it is safely and age appropriate.

On a negative, is it too much too soon? And while I’m open minded and live in a “live and let live” mind, requesting a litter box in class is essentially taking the piss (if you’ll pardon the pun)

NotTodayJose · 12/05/2023 20:27

The insistent repeated question is all very journo.

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:31

Absolutely your right . How to support children through an envolving socoirty that we are I’ll erupt for …. Ideas please

OP posts:
DancingintheSpoonlight · 12/05/2023 20:33

What do you want ideas for?

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:34

Simple how we support our diverse society , especially our bricks that start the tomorrow

I’ve heard of the litter tray thing in Irish class rooms, the teachers have to pander to it because of self ID laws there.

PlanningTowns · 12/05/2023 20:37

Did you not see the red carpet at the Met Gala???

Mopscharlotte · 12/05/2023 20:41

you use the word pander … not disagreeing with you . But wonder if this is a pandemic of people people being lost ODD children /ASD/ ADHD children - not necessary the parents but again I go back to environment and evolvement

Perhaps a lot could be said for being not judgemental but not putting so much emphasis and labels on things. Don’t always need to bend over backwards because someone is working out who they are and what they like or dislike.
