Hi,

I’m really keen to speak to and or gain relationships with gay families/ mothers. As a gay mother, I would like to expose my son to families who are similar to ours. I hasten to add that I think it’s equally important that he witness healthy heterosexual families too. However, due to the lack of diversity within my area, the former is less likely. Ideally it would be nice to hear from families in south London, but London wide is fine.

Best wishes,

Mia.

You should look up some groups on Facebook - usually under @Rainbow Families or similar.
There's a great one in Brighton that has London families involved too...

I find that my daughter Wya likes to talk to other children with homosexual parents and talk about her experiences as well as talk to me and her other mum. I found these friends through social media mainly and also there are things like pride marches where you can meet other homosexual families. It is important for your child to understand that it is ok to be gay or straight or anything else so they can decide for themselves when they are older and not feel nervous or unwelcome to "come out" or bring home a partner. This is why you should mix with lots of different family dynamics.
