Southbourne/Bournemouth

We are a lesbian couple living in London with two children (a 19 month old and a newborn). We both have very demanding and stressful jobs in London. We would like a change in lifestyle so as to be less stressed and have much more time as a family and are considering a move to Southbourne/Bournemouth. We are really worried about what it would be like for our kids growing up with lesbian parents in that area as there is so much less diversity generally in that area compared to London and we are worried they will feel much more different and may even get real hassle by comparison to what we can offer them in London. I would LOVE to hear any views.

It depends where in the area I think. Some very diverse neighbourhoods around there (mixed racially, economically etc) and some very not.

Some gorgeous parts of the country. Can't help more specifically though.

We're lesbian parents to 8 month old twins and live in Southampton. We take the occasional day out to Bournemouth and have never felt any negative feeling towards us in either Southampton or Bournemouth. We go to a few different baby groups and I have had no issues.

We live in dorset and set up a dorset parents group on Facebook. There are a few families from Bournemouth in the group.

We haven't had any negativity about being lesbian parents, although we do feel a bit lonely sometimes!
