I feel really bad hijacking - but as a single lady I'm not sure where else to go - I know there's lone parents but most of them aren't lone parents by choice!

My question is this. Next August I plan to use a sperm donor from prideangel in order to TTC as a single lady but I wondered if anybody would be good enough to talk me through how they did it - the costs, how they chose the donor, and how the sperm arrived?

I really hope I haven't offended anybody by placing it here and if I have I'll ask MNHQ to move it so please don't flame me!

I can't help, but quite a few people here have, so hopefully they'll be along (eventually - it moves pretty slowly on here!) to advise - there's one poster who is very pro pride angle - Wrighty, I think

I used prideangel via ai, and I now have a wonderful 9 week old boy. Personally i found most of the donors really helpful . Most are only looking for minimal expenses, please make sure they get tested for sti and good luck

Hi, yes I used Pride Angel to find a donor, I did try other avenues over a number of months. I used AI, with a kit from the site. The arrangements you decide on such as meeting, transportation etc are between you and the donor, Pride Angel is just a connection site, although they do offer advice on the whole process. I did have to report another user for asking for sex and they investigated and suspended the other member,So my experience was a good one. I would say to ask for proof of STI testing and yo shold only be asked for expenes if anyone is inapprpriate or asks for anything else then my advice wold be to report them to the site, they will help! Hello, I am a single woman too and considering using Pride Angel to find a donor but I wonder how you can ensure the tests are accurate and up to date? Should STD test be done right before the sperm donation? How are you sure the sperm is the guy's? I am so willing to have a kid, as all of us here, I am a little worried people could take advantage or not be honest.. I belive in good people but I guess you are never too careful.. Any advice is very welcome! Thank you in advance..

We used a donor from a similar site. He provided us with copies of STI certificates and it was definitely his sperm as we met him and he produced it in the bathroom (it was still warm).

The best thing is to get to know your donor a little both on phone/email and by meeting and discussing his motivation etc. Ultimately you just have to trust your instincts and only agree to the donation if it feels right, after all isn't this what people in relationships do when they want to conceive?

Valuk1 ask the donor to go to a nhs sexual health clinic. They need to provide i.d but afterwards they receive a certificate detailing the results. I also recommend meeting the donor and using your judgement. Depending on your location there are lots of men willing to help so if one does not feel right, find another

I have used pride angel recently with a kit from the site and used home artificial insemination, it worked first time!!!

Hi lumpybumpy13 congrats on your success! We have an appt at care in sept but to be honest we are feeling a bit down about the process.. first time seeing someone and they want £400 and to do an invasive scan which was only mentioned in a letter! Alas we are looking into pride angel and it would be lovely to hear more about your experiences... was your donor local? Where did you meet? Etc
