My girlfriend moved in with myself and my daughter a few months ago. They get on really well (I think having the same mental age helps) and I'm pleased to say the transition has gone a lot more smoothly than I could have ever hoped. My daughter and I were alone for nearly 6 years after her father and I broke up, so it had the potential to be a bit tricky.
My GF sometimes feels at a bit of a loss as to her 'role'. She doesn't really want to be a step-parent figure (although I doubt she has much choice, as my daughter has designated her that already). I was wondering if anyone knows of someone in a similar situation?
