help, pleeeease...
i've known i was gay since being a teenager, but brought up in a very religous place so got married at 19, had kids. now divorced (thank goodness) and after 30 years of living as a fake straight i am determined to come out. but i have 4 boys (8-15) and an ex from hell.
any advice?
would love to make friends with some other gay parents
thanks

How open-minded are your sons? Because that would change the way you need to approach this.
Example: My friend came out to his 11yo daughter, and asked if she loved him yesterday, she said yes. He said he was gay yesterday, too, and that was pretty much all the discussion that was needed.

You might benefit from calling LGF (lgf.org.uk - 0845 3303030) and checking out their website. They've got heaps of stories and advice for you to trawl through.

Big buckets of luck, give us a post after you've liberated yourself and let us know how it went? I'd like to know (and offer myself as an ear if it doesn't go as well as we all hope it will). :)

hello, thanks for the message and support.
don't think the older teenagers will find it easy, given their stage in life. i'm more worried about the XP.
i tried the LGF who suggested mumsnet :-)
I think there's plenty of support for younger people, but the middle aged are a bit lost. i get the impression we may be seen as traitors having tried to pass as straight for years.
so i'm going to make an effort to make a lot of new gay friends and introduce kids to the idea that way.
