does anyone know if you can get a decree absolute on the same day that you apply for it - while you wait - as it were

No, you have to apply to the court and they take ages - actually mine came eight weeks after the decree nisi - so in my case two weeks wait from application.

thanks for that - did you apply for the decree absolute 6 weeks and 1 day after the decree nisi?

Yes.

You can actually get it on the same day. As long as at least 6 weeks and 1 day as passed after pronouncement of DN.

I attended the Court office myself and waited around 15 minutes to get mine and also sometimes attended in person to collect for a client.
