How to make a will in the UK?

Can anyone give me a hint on the formalities? I do not have many possessions (well, does a huge mortgage count?) but would like to be sure I make some arrangements re the custody of my kids.

If I need to contact a solicitor or whatever, how do I find one?

Look on Law Society website and search for local solicitors firms specialising in wills. Many firms offer a fixed price for simple cases such as yours.

Don't be tempted to use a DIY kit - if you get some of the details wrong it can invalidate the will causing lots of problems and expense for your family.

A friend of mine has just used a fantastic company to write their Will for them. They came to the house and their prices were very reasonable, I think she said she paid £149 for a double Will for her and her DH. Like you she was just wanting to make sure they had appointed Guardians for the children. If you are interested I can get their phone number for you, thay have people all over the country.
