my friend works for a large pub chain and has on site accomodation, she recently went on holiday and was out of the country and asked another friend to check on the property whilst she was away. her friend went in one night on her way back from work as she works alot and that was the only opportunity she would have. the pub manager then banged on the flat door demanded she leave the property immediatly took the keys and then changed the flats locks. friend has just got back from holiday to be told she is facing dismissal as it breached company security and brought the company name is in disrupute! yes fiend could have gained accsess to the pub but the door to get into the pub is not locked and did not neeed a key to get into and in fact a gate was broken to the gate on the street for months and gain accsess to the pub. the door into the pub has no lock on it and can be opened from the outside without any key. the pub manager has also been trying to get rid of my friend and has been very difficult in the past. friend has worked for company for 6 years, can anyone advise?

I know a great employment lawyer if you want to message me. He has taken on very large employers with gusto and succeeded!

friend was sacked today, and now the company say they can kick her out without notice, is this true?

Sorry to hear about your friend, I hope that she is able to find someone to help her.

Could she not speak to the Head Office HR department etc?

Good luck with that, sorry not to be able to offer anything other than best wishes....

leoleosuperstar · 02/04/2010 09:59

I doubt they can kick her out without notice. Contact Shelter or CAB?

I am surprised that a company can just sack someone like that without a disciplinary hearing.
