Energy provider "poaching"...

How can we stop other energy providers poaching our account?

Everytime we get one of those smug, annoying door step sellers from Scottish Power round we then get a letter from our gas and electricity supplier saying we've decided to leave them, even though we haven't and generally tell door steppers where to go (politely). It's happened 5 times now and we're sick of it. Is there anyone we can report them to and how can we stop this happening?

they can do that? jesus! can you write to SP head office, can you write to your local paper, your MP?

That's outrageous!

Is there and OF -something?

Ofgem is the regulator.

I'd start with a complaint to Scottish Power pointing out that their sales reps have signed you up falsely on 5 times. If that doesn't produce a satisfactory response or it happens again, refer them to Ofgem.

Thanks guys. We've also just found out that the junkie/dealer scum upstairs have removed the lock from the cupboard where the gas meters are so this could be how Scottish Power got our meter details (which they need to set up an account) So it's not just a case of a typo either - they reckon they meant to put the name of the building next-door!

Oh how I love this place
