Abandoned Stuff

Long story short my DB has left a room full of stuff in my hse Have sorted it into boxes some stuff some expensive items they were there for over 5 yrs have given him a deadline to remove extended twice nothing touched so am vvv cross I just text to say email a list of what you want will send to your hse [no go his DP does not want more stuff] or I am getting rid of it all bin/charity shop not selling or anything like that. I know he has no clue what is in the room. Can I get rid of it am desperate to do up room space is at a premium and want Dc to have her own room. Tks

Assuming you dont want any of it and that all of it belongs to him...........

I would pack the whole lot into my car and drive it pronto round to his house, even if that means two trips

If you get rid of it and he gets cross in years to come you may well feel guilty so I would just deposit the whole lot on his doorstep!

His dp doesnt want the stuff? tough! neither do you..................

Does he not want it, or does he just want you to keep on storing it?

I think an ultimatum is fine - "Do I have your permission to get rid of this stuff? If I don't hear from you within 5 days I'll take it as a yes."

An old flatmate did this to me once, however as there were not blood-ties involved I just chucked it all after five years (when I wanted to claim my big cupboard back). We'd had no contact at all for a couple of years at that point though.
